
AUDITION NOTICE
BACKSTAGE PERFORMING ARTS is thrilled to announce auditions for our upcoming
SIMPLY MAGICAL CABARET

Produced By: Backstage Performing Arts

Join us for a Simply Magical Cabaret, this fairytale-themed production will feature songs around the fantasy world from the bottom of the ocean to the top of Mount Olympus! All Princesses, Princes, King & Queens Welcome!
Please prepare a Musical Theatre or Jazz Standard song of your choice along with a short written list of fairytale themed songs you would be interested in performing. Song(s) will be assigned to performers by the Director. We will decide the final song list for the show based on the best variety. We thank you in advance for being flexible in these decisions. Not everyone who auditions will be cast in the production.

REHEARSALS

Cast members will choose 3 specific times to rehearse with Director based on the dates listed on the Audition Form/Conflict Calendar

The full-cast will rehearse for dress and tech the week of the show

Rehearsals will be held at the studio

You are expected and trusted to have your song or songs prepared and ready for an audience by Nov. 5th

Then cast members will choose 2 other blocking/character rehearsal times from these dates:
Oct. 8th, Oct. 9th, Oct. 14th, Oct. 15th, Oct. 16th, Oct. 29th, Oct. 30th
TECH/DRESS REHEARSALS
November 3rd, 6:10 - 9:30 pm - Group Number and DRESS/TECH REHEARSAL
November 4th, 7:30 - 10:00 pm - DRESS/TECH REHEARSAL

COSTUMES
You will likely be expected to provide some of your own wardrobe for the performance. Dress expectations will be semi-formal and family-appropriate. Be prepared to coordinate with the studio to discuss your chosen outfit ahead of the performance.
PERFORMANCE DETAILS
Audience members will be seated at cabaret tables or on our raised seating. Guests will be invited to wear masks. There will be no intermission. Those who choose table seating will choose their concessions at the time of ticket purchase.

We are doing this show for multiple reasons; to create an opportunity for actors to perform, to fundraise money for Backstage Performing Arts, and to spread joy to families around Davis County through entertainment.
